Homework

We are beginning our study of multiplying and dividing fractions.  To begin, we need to understand what multiplying a fraction means.  Remember what it looked like in class today when I tore the one whole paper in half?

  1/2 of one whole = 1/2

 1/2 of 2  =  ?

1/2  of 15  =  ?

Watch these videos to help you VISUALIZE what finding a fraction OF a whole number looks like.

Write out 3 fraction of a whole number problems you saw on the videos on a piece of paper (including the answers) and bring them with you to class tomorrow.

Snowman at Night

A stanza has 4 lines.  One of your stanzas has to follow the rhyming pattern of a, b, c, b (the second and fourth line rhyme).

First stanza - should only focus on setting the scene.  Where was your snowman built?  What was it like there?  "One snowy day, I built a snowman...."

Second stanza - should focus on how your snowman looked when you saw him the next day  "His hat was red and black"

Last stanza(s) - should focus on how your snowman must have gotten back to his starting place   "So if your snowman starts to show up with sprinkles..."

You also need at least 4 stanzas for the action that will take place in your story.

TOMORROW'S HOMEWORK IS TO COMPLETE 5 STANZAS.
We had time in class today to work on this, so you should have at least 2 done from class.
