Ok, I am back in business. It has been a while since I posted. I decided even if you check this out only every once in a while, if it helps you get a better sense of what we are doing in class and connect with your child, then it is worth my time to put the information on here. If you check this site out, tell your child to come to me with the secret phrase (at the bottom of this post) and they can earn some bucks for their bank. You can just add me to your favorites for your child to check out (with your permission, of course! I will attempt to keep up on the homework listed, but want to have more information about WHAT we are doing in class as well as some links to help you help your kids. Please tell me what you might like on this site. Email me and let me know. Thank you!
Did your child tell you that we have been practice some test taking skills for ISATs that are comingup in a couple of weeks? We have been practicing test taking and reading skills, reading lots of science related materials, as well as writing practice and math practice. It is really helpful to allow kids practice time so they are more comfortable with the test taking procedure. With the advent of No CHild Left Behind, District 204 expects us to see that all students are given the opportunity for success. I want all kids to feel confident in their abilities. In the coming weeks, please check this site for some links to practice some ISAT questions with your child. It really allows you to feel what your kids have to go through. Telling your child how much you believe in them and getting them lots of sleep and staying healthy makes a huge difference!

Fun in 4G
Have your kids tell you about the cooperative learning they did today with a game called "Heads Together." Today we did it about what we all celebrate this time of year. Our classmates celebrate Eid and Christmas. ALso, have them tell you about our brain activator called A, B, C, D. Have them show you! We are being introduced to our singers and next week, we will present them to the class. Your child will bring home their work tomorrow, along with Progress Reports that are coming home. The kids had fun trying to perfect a "James Brown" yell and did some mulitplication multiples to a song by Jimmy Buffett (too fast) and Sting. Who said learning can't be fun!

Is anyone using this site?
I specifically didn't use this last week to see if anyone would write me an email to remind me. I want to use this site as a tool to share info with you. I understand there are days I forget and that is why it is an additional tool to use for information, but I wonder if this is something you feel helpful enough for me to continue. Please email me at christi_grezlik@ipsd.org and let me know if you will use this. If I ever go more than one day, please call me or email me and just write, "This is just a reminder that you didn't post yesterday." This is just a busy time of year and I am not getting any younger. Reminders are so appreciated!
With all that said, here is the homework for today:
Spelling: Unit 14 - Abbreviations - your child is responsible for knowing the words too! Students on contract - work due Friday morning
Reading - Fluency due Friday
Math - 4G - 5.5 (review doing partial products - use your SRB)
4S - test tomorrow
Social Studies - Keep studying the states and capitals, if you don't have your cards, you can still write them out from memory!
Thank you,
Mrs. Grezlik
