What do YOU think?

We have a lot of opinions this week!  We have started our study and practice with persuasive thinking and writing and have been busy using our opinions in almost every subject area. During read aloud, we have expressed our opinions on what we believe Brady should do with the decision he has to make (today, we even wrote and shared some alternative endings to the story).  Of course, the students had many opinions about the taxation activity we did on Tuesday.  Also, we have learned that the colonists had differening opinions about who to be loyal to before the Revolutionary War.  Our main goal will be to be able to produce an effective argument on a topic using many supportive reasons and organized writing!

If you have not returned the conference note that came home this week, please do so by tomorrow.

Here is our homework for the day:
Reading:
  • Read Snow Treasure chapters 24 and 25
  • Annotate on character development (what are you learning about the characters, specifically Jan Lasek?)
Math:
  • 5G has 1 1/2 worksheets on finding the percent of a number (remember to THINK about what makes sense)
  • 5K - a sheet
  • 5R - a sheet
Social Studies:
  • Review lesson 2
  • Read page 281 carefully - create a picture of the First Continental Congress.  What would that have LOOKED like and SOUNDED like (include three speech bubbles)?  Be creative!
THERE WILL BE MORNING TIME TO WORK ON SOCIAL STUDIES IF YOUR SNOW TREASURE WORK TAKES YOU A LITTLE LONGER!

Writing:  quite a few kids still need to get this week's newsletter signed
